Technical and biological engineering aimed at enhancing the lives of marine species.

The choice of the species to be housed in an aquarium determines its shape and volume, as well as the type of filtration for each tank and, consequently, the dimensions of the technical facilities.
For this reason, all Coutant Aquariums engineering teams include a biologist from the beginning of the project, to define the collection to be presented and also to identify biological constraints, including the compatibility and availability of various species.

The filtration systems are designed with the utmost care to suit the ecosystems to be reproduced, focusing on the following criteria:

  • High-performance,
  • Reliability,
  • Flexibility,
  • Durability,
  • Economic efficiency, and
  • Easy maintenance.
In the technical engineering phase, the Coutant Aquariums team determines all the technical specifications for the aquarium and their impact on the other aspects.
All the technical requirements are calculated and positioned on the drawings, and then specifications are drawn up by the engineering teams. (Electrical connections, aquarium plumbing network, temperature control, aeration, centralised technical management, overloading, seawater production, waste water discharge, etc.)
Similarly, the manufacturing methods, operational schedules, and accessibility of the facilities are analysed in advance so that the clients and architects have a global overview of the project.
